Game Freezing during single player custom conquest game

This is a new issue as of this past week. My game never froze before the latest update. I don't run mods. I play as clan of the raven every time. No clue what is causing the freeze, but I have to load autosaves constantly and inch-my way to a victory through many loads and saves, making small progress between each of them.
Likely has something to do with the owl clan update.

jijimkasame, when you try to land mercs game freezes/crashes, in late game. Or it can crash in next game early, if you play raven 2 matches
