Turtle solo conquest Helheim

Playing solo conquest using Turtle clan at Helheim. I have colonised Helheim and moved units onto the zone, and built a defense tower. However my units are not controllable whilst on the zone, except to move them off, and then they (and others) cannot no longer be moved/returned there.
I taken a screen shot to demonstrate this (sorry for the poor quality but if I used the pc screen grab the mouse cursor disappeared): my warchief is on an adjacent tile and I cannot move him onto the Helheim zone - indicated by the mouse cursor being a red cross. This red cross also appears if you select any units on the Helheim zone.
