Multiplayer Conquest does not work, screen frozen

Multiplayer conquest, Goat and Horse.
The very first game of the conquest, got almost to the end of it, got a pop up saying the game "might become unstable", then my screen froze completely. I could not even press ESC, the other player provided the screenshot of the seed. My game stayed frozen, I could not even Alt+F4 out of the game.
This game has become pretty much unplayable since the "stable release" of the definitive edition.
