Periodic micro-freezes every ~5 seconds, even in main menu (Windows, NVIDIA)

Northgard has periodic micro-freezes about every ~5 seconds, even when idle in the main menu. Each freeze is brief but repeats indefinitely and also persists in matches. Not performance-related: CPU/GPU usage stays low and stable, and lowering graphics settings does not help. Tested with no effect: DirectX and OpenGL, Steam online/offline, Steam Overlay OFF, NVIDIA/GeForce overlay OFF, V-Sync ON/OFF, fullscreen/borderless, all graphics presets, different NVIDIA Control Panel profiles. System: Windows 10 x64, i7-2600, GTX 1070, 16 GB RAM, 1920x1080@60Hz. Expected smooth menu/gameplay; actual periodic freezes regardless of settings.
