Game freezes when it connects to online service

Works perfectly fine in ofline mode but the moment it connects to online and gets my rank/ trys to get my rank it freezes continually, usually for a few seconds up to whole minutes at a time. It always unfreezes eventually but the freezes come fast and often enough (every few seconds) that the game is unplayable. Only happened after I bought and downloaded the hippogriff DLC. Even turning off the DLC and redownloading the game doesn't work.
